| Ex servicemen rally held in Mendhar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 12- Ex-servicemen (Gaurav Senani) rally for the benefit of ex-servicemen to include retired persons of BSF, CRPF, J&K police and Veer Naris (widows) was organized at Helipad Ground, Mendhar, District Poonch, today by a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion (PUNJAB) under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (ROMEO). The rally was aimed at bringing the veterans at a common platform and also to make them aware of various welfare schemes provided by the Government. The rally was inaugurated by Commander Sector Headquarters of Rashtriya Rifles. The army and civil administration joined hands in a remarkable display of cooperation to come out with such a large scale rally in which nearly 650 veterans participated. The rally hosted medical facilities; Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) stalls literature on animal husbandry, agriculture, horticulture etc for the benefit of all personnel. Elements of the civil administration comprising of the Zila Sainik Board, JAK LI, Soil Conservation Board, SBI and J&K Bank also established their stalls with relevant literature during the rally. The highlight of the rally was the presentation of mobility equipment worth Rs 60,000 to Ex Naik Bostan Ahmed Solan received from the Ministry of Defence based on a case taken by the Army. All the participants appreciated the facilities provided by the Security Forces and requested the Army to conduct more such rallies in future. It was a nostalgic moment for all the ex-servicemen to remember their glorious past which also included a few veterans of World War II.
