Srinagar Sept 20 - A joint market checking squad of Consumer affairs & Public Distribution, Legal Metrology departments and HPCL today visited various areas of Srinagar city including Chandpora, Harwan, Saidpora and Shalimar and booked 15 shopkeepers for violation of Essential Commodities Act, and Weights and Measures Act.
During the inspection, the squad recovered a fine of Rs. 7000/- from the defaulters on spot.
Besides in Baramulla, the CA&PD checking squad led by Assistant Director visited various areas of Baramulla town and booked four erring shopkeepers for violation of Essential Commodities Act.
During inspection about 2 qtls of rotten vegetables, fruit and other edibles were destroyed on the spot.
