Early Times Report
VIJAYPUR, Dec 12: The Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur organized a Moot Court Mock Drill focusing on proceedings under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) cases. The initiative aimed to equip police personnel with the necessary skills for presenting and deposing statements before courts as prosecution witnesses. The event took place at the Moot Court within PTTI Vijaypur under the supervision of Shri Haseeb-Ur-Rehman-IPS, DIG SIU Jammu Zone.
During the mock drill, a UAPA case from District Poonch was simulated, with police witnesses appearing before the Moot Court and undergoing cross-examination by designated defense counsel. DIG SIU Jammu Zone, speaking on the occasion, emphasized the importance of properly briefing and guiding the prosecution witnesses on how to appear and present their testimony in the court. He expressed confidence that such moot court trials would enhance the understanding of court proceedings among police personnel and benefit investigating officers in refining their capabilities to address investigation gaps.
Shiv Kumar-IPS, Principal PTTI Vijaypur, welcomed DIG SIU Jammu Zone and other investigating officers from various districts. The event was attended by Zia-Ul-Haq (Dy.SP Outdoor), Kuldeep Raj (Dy.SP Indoor/Tech), Akshay Khajuria, Dy.SP, and CIOs (Chief Investigating Officers) from different districts, including Tilak Raj Bhardwaj, Sunil Singh Jasrotia, Sahil Mahajan, Aijaz Choudhary, along with other officers and officials of PTTI Vijaypur.
Senior Prosecuting Officers Asif Iqbal and Munish Kumar conducted the court proceedings and provided insights to the investigating officers on improving investigations in UAPA cases. They also offered guidance on recording statements in the court during the trial of cases. The Moot Court Mock Drill served as a valuable training opportunity, contributing to the continuous development of skills and knowledge among police personnel.
