IGP felicitates officers, officials for working out highway robberies cases in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 12: Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone , Shri Anand Jain,IPS visited Police Station Akhnoor and felicitates officers/officials who worked out number of Highway Robbery Cases took place in Jammu Zone. The officers/officials were awarded with Appreciation letter and Commendation Certificate Class-1st in a simple function organized at Police Station Akhnoor are : -

Pertinent to mention here that number of highway robbery cases took place at different locations in Jammu district that has created a sense of fear and panic among the general public as well as drivers/commuters plying in late/wee hours.
Accordingly, Special Team headed by Sh. Mohan Lal, SDPO Akhnoor was constituted to investigate one of the highway robbery cases registered under FIR No. 281/2023 U/S 392-IPC P/S Akhnoor.
During the course of investigation of the above said case, the other robbery cases registered in other Police Station of district Jammu viz P/S Domana, Jhajjar Kotli, Nagrota and Gangyal were also thoroughly scrutinized by this Special Team in order to find out the Modus-operandi of these robbery cases.
The consistent resulted into identification of all accused persons, their apprehensions and recovery of vehicles & weapons used for committing crimes in many districts which ultimately earthed dozen of such robbery cases in Jammu Zone, the detail of which is as under: -

The team so constituted for the purpose had worked with great dedication, devotion and in a professional manner to identify the robbers for which a comprehensive plan was made.
The CCTV footages from all the places of incidents as well as connecting roads to the places of incidents and Fast-tag data of all the tool plazas in between the places of incidents also helped in the apprehension of accused persons involved in these robbery cases.
The team has also analysed data of the last 10 years to find out the suspects in similar nature of incidents committed in the past. During the course of investigation, breakthrough was obtained by the team members as a result of which one habitual criminal namely Mohd Kabir was arrested along with one bike and sharp edge weapons and on his disclosure, 02 more accused were arrested and one car was also recovered.
It is worthwhile to mention here that continuous raids were conducted at different locations i.e Bari Brahmana, Khanna (Punjab), Neerojal, Thanamandi (Rajouri), Bathandi, Jammu and after screening of more than fifty houses ,one house was identified and raided which led to arrest of two more accused persons.
In these robbery cases, 05 accused persons were arrested, out of which 04 belong to district Rajouri and district Doda and recoveries were made which include 02 Vehicles, 02 Bikes, 03 sharp edge weapon of offences (Tokas), 02 Mobile phones of the victims etc.
IGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain-IPS, has informed in this function that good work done by the Police shall be lauded and highlighted in future also in order to boast their morale.
