Jammu, Dec 12: 37th meeting of Board of Management of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) of Jammu, which was held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor, Professor B. N. Tripathi, here today, discussed and approved important agenda items. Main agendas approved during the meeting included holding of 8th Convocation of SKUAST-Jammu and conferring of degrees to the pass outs of the University, conferring of certificates of merit and gold medals in the 8th Convocation, consideration and approval of recommendations of selection committee(s) for the appointment of Deans and Directors in the University, Filling up of posts of Subject Matter Specialist and Programme Assistants in Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK’s) as per ICAR norms, engagement of employees on deputation basis in the University etc.
At the outset, Prof B N Tripathi, Vice- Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Management, SKUAST-Jammu highlighted the salient achievements of the University since last Board of Management meeting viz. International training/Exposure visit of students/Faculty under NAHEP (26 students, 50 Faculty members), Implementation of NEP with multiple entry & exit provisions with transfer of academic bank credits, 28 HADP projects, Establishment of Bio control laboratory & plant tissue culture laboratory, 07 new crop/pulses varieties notified by University, 03 patent granted to the scientist for inter institutional collaborative innovations, GI based tagging granted to Bhaderwah Rajmash, Ramban Sulai Honey etc.
During the meeting, Sh. Shailendra Kumar, Principal Secretary to Govt., Agriculture Production Department, J&K Govt, rendered some valuable administrative and financial suggestions on different agendas.
Dr. T.R. Sharma, Deputy Director General, Crop Science, ICAR, New Delhi suggested that the vacant scientific posts in the University as well as ICAR funded projects be filled on fast track basis through special recruitment drive. He also stressed to strengthen the millets research in the Jammu region and university may collaborate with the ICAR millet research institute.
Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, G.B. Pant University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Pant Nagar, Uttrakhand, Dr. Nazeer Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K, Dr. Piyush Singla, IAS, Administrative Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department, J&K Govt, Dr. V.P. Sharma, Director, Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan (ICAR representative) and other concerned attended the meeting. Dr S K Gupta, Registrar of the University presented the agendas.
