Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 13- Socialistic Democratic Party created history by giving a new meaning to the Valentine’s Day in Jammu and Kashmir when it celebrated this Day as Indo-Pak love and peace day at a glorious function on the bank of river Chenab, the living testimony to the love saga of Sohini and Mahiwal, at Akhnoor today.
It may be recalled that SDP under the guidance of its Party President Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi last year started this move of celebrating this day of love as “Indo-Pak love and peace Day”. Last year this celebration was covered by all local, national and international media labeling it as a unique way of spreading love between the two nations. When on one hand radicals have been propagating against the observing of Valentine’s Day, the staunch patriot, young and highly educated leader of SDP Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi choose this day for sending the messages of love and peace to Pakistan. Adhering to her novel way, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi flocked by the top rung leaders of Socialistic Democratic Party begun the celebration on Chenab bank with drum-beating and Dogra music. Later, she unveiled the placard which had a message for Pak government which read: “Please don’t send guns and terrorists but send love. We want good and peaceful relations to get restored between India and Pakistan. So please shun hatred and curb terrorism.” Dr Darakhshan then presented to media dozens of letters written to Pakistan government by the violence and terrorism victims from different places from Kupwara to Kathua, in which the Pak government has been requested to kindly shun encouraging and transporting terrorists to this part of the LOC and border. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Darakhshan said that the copies of these letters will be sent as a symbolical gesture through waters to Pakistan but later after a few days the copies of these letters along with a memorandum will be handed over to Pak High Commissioner at Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, SDP President Dr. Darakhshan said that unfortunate events like Mumbai are the creation of Pakistan and despite our efforts to send love, Pakistani authorities are hell bent upon sending hatred and terrorism to this country. She said that we in J&K have suffered their brunt the most. Celebrating the events like this, we want to convey to the authorities across the border that we want to live in peace and harmony with them and they should at least now reciprocate our sentiments. This is very important for the stability of the region, she added.
SDP leaders who were present on the occasion included Ajay Sharma, Ajay Raina, Surendra Chaudhry, Sham Lal Raina, Rajiv Bhagat, Surendhra Bhagat, Advocate Manish Dutt, Gurusagar Singh, Gurmeet Singh, and Mohammed Ibrahim Kaloo.
