| Shiv Sevaks to celebrate ‘Shiv Vihaah’ on Shivraatri day | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Fen 13- Shiv Sevaks, a philanthropic cum religious voluntary organization, with support of Jammuites is going to organize its annual feature the ‘Shiv Vihaah’on Maha Shivraatri falling on February 23. The cavalcade of Shiv Baraat comprising about 100 vehicles, unlike the past years, will start from the traditional venue the Ranbireshwer Temple Shalimar Roda Jammu on February 15, 2009. It is to mention here that this is the third consecutive year the Shiv Sevak Organization is performing ‘Shiv Vivah’ with unprecedented enthusiasm and support from the representatives of various social, religious organizations and prominent citizens as also devotees of Lord Shiva, who often join the program as Baratis of Bhagwan Shiva. The said Shiv Baraat would start towards the Man Talai (Sudh Mahadev) from Jammu at 6.00 am amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras and Shalokas. Kulbhushan Kapoor from Panjthirhi and Nisha Sharma of Ramgarh would enter into nuptial ties as Lord Shiv-Goddess Parvati. Both the bride and bride groom would be dressed up in such a manner which finds mention in mythological scriptures. The youth attired like Devis and Devtas would also accompany the Baraat. The symbolic Shiv Baraat would halt at Chenani at the Shaant will be performed at 11.30 am. The Baraat would also take its breakfast at Chenani and thereafter will start its journey towards Mantalai, where Vivah is scheduled. Meanwhile, the dance troupes from within and out side the state especially from Delhi, Muzzafarbad and UP, too will stage scintillating epic dance performances during the halt at Chenani which include the Shiv Tandav; Mahakali Dance and Bhoot dance etc. However, the religious marriage rituals from the bride side (symbolizing the Goddess Parvati) would be performed at Man Talai (Sudh Mahadev). The Vivaah would be performed at Mantalai, in which a large number of people from all walks of life are likely to participate and witness this religious moment. The program would conclude with the Doli. A large Bhandara cum Prasad distribution counter would also be organized at Man Talai where the Baraatis would be entertained It is to worth mentioning that a Shiv Baraat comprising tableaux depicting Mythological tales related to Lord Shiva would also be organized on February 21 in the Jammu city prior to the auspicious occasion of the Maha Shivraatri which would pass through various markets of the city and culminate at Shiv Temple at Shalimar.
