BIS conducts sensitisation program for Pathankot block

Pathankot, Dec 15: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) organized Gram Panchayat Sensitisation Programme with Sarpanch & Panchayat Secretary at Kishan Bhawan, Chak Chimna of District Pathankot, Punjab under the guidance of District Development Panchayat Officer Pathankot on Friday.
Wherein about 50 Sarpanches, Panchas and Panchayat Samiti Members participated. Files and pamphlets about development of BIS standards were distributed among participants to enhance their knowledge about Standards in their routine day to day life.
Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO, gave the welcome address and an overview of the working of BIS to the participants.
He talked about the role of standards in Gram Panchayats.
He said that BIS is the quality ecosystem of the country and caters to the needs of end users through Conformity Assessment Schemes which are based on the quality, safety and performance parameters laid down in Indian standards.
He said that ISI Mark is a mean for providing third party guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products and services to the consumer.
Later, Sanjiwan Singh Dadhwal Resource Person presented detailed overview of standardization with a focus on Indian standards related to day-to-day life, ISI Mark Certification and Laboratory facility to support certification.
He also demonstrated ‘BIS Care App’.
During the program the participants were apprised about significance of Standards to procure quality goods for any development activity or personal needs and participants also downloaded BIS Care app and learn to use this App for verifying the authenticity of genuine ISI Mark and Hallmarking through BIS Care App and tried various products to validate their authenticity.
The participants also shared their views after the workshop about their experiences and how they can effectively use the information they have gained through this programme.
Participants were amazed by knowing that they can directly raise a complaint or concern at BIS Care App and check misuse of standard mark.
The entire audience unanimously thanks for enlightening them on the newer knowledge they have gained on the BIS marking and means to check their authenticity and raised demand to conduct more such programs in their respective villages.
