Early Times Report

DODA, Dec 15: Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh today chaired a meeting to review the progress of ongoing JJM schemes in the district. The meeting was held in the mini meeting hall of the DC office complex. The Deputy Commissioner spearheaded discussions on the execution of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). Singh urged stakeholders to expedite progress on all JJM schemes, aiming to complete the 185 ongoing projects across the district by year-end, ensuring safe drinking tap water for every household. Emphasizing the significance of timely payments to contractors, Singh addressed potential obstacles and committed to resolving bottlenecks hindering execution of projects.
Earlier, DC Doda also handed over the Abhinandan Pattras to the members of Pani samiti for their excellent performance under the JJM schemes.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the progress of the past six months, focusing on the works under Jal Shakti divisions, including Doda, Bhaderwah, Gandoh and Kishtwar divisions. The total estimated cost for the 185 schemes under JJM was reported at Rs 748.31 crores. Singh set a target for 85 percent completion by the end of the year 2023, and directed concerned officers to ensure that slow sand filtration plants are completed by March 15.
Contractor’s associations raised concerns during the meeting, particularly highlighting delayed billing processes, transportation issues for raw materials, and challenges related to GI and HDPE pipes. The DC directed officers to address these issues promptly. Additionally, DC was informed that 79 percent of tap connections had already been established under the JJM scheme in the District. The DC Doda directed officials to work with dedication, emphasizing the benefits to the public and ensuring all works are completed by December.
The meeting underscored the district’s commitment to providing safe and reliable drinking water to residents through the JJM projects.
Attended by key officials, including the CPO Doda, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Circle Doda, and XENs of JSD, the gathering aimed to align efforts for the successful implementation of the mission and address challenges hindering its progress.
