| Humane face of JK Police | | Khoda announces education fund for martyr’s children | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEBRUARY 13 - In order to facilitate children of police martyrs who are graduates by academic qualification, free coaching from reputed institutions of Srinagar and Jammu would be provided to them, enabling them compete in various competitive examinations, including for the post of Sub Inspectors advertised recently. This was stated by Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, here today. He said that the Police has decided to set up a 'Martyrs' Children Education Fund' under which students of martyred cops would be given free coaching to compete in various competitive examinations. Better hostel facilities will also be provided to the students hailing from remote and far-flung areas, presently studying in Police Public Schools at the twin capitals of the State. Mr. Khoda said this will be a tribute to the valour of those who rendered supreme sacrifice for the integrity of the country and helped in restoring peace and normalcy in the State. The DGP disclosed that from March this year, more hostel facilities would be made available to the students up to 10th class in police-public schools at Srinagar and Jammu. He instructed the concerned to complete the work in progress in hostels and provide better facilities before opening the school after winter vacation. Addressing the lady members of Welfare Association and top ranking police officers here today, Mr. Khoda also expressed satisfaction over the conduct of one-day Police-Public Mela recently held at Jammu. Mr. Khoda appreciated the efforts of lady members of the Association, police officers and organizers for making the event successful. Appreciating the members and officers, Mr. Khoda sought suggestions for further improvement in welfare activities as well as providing more facilities to the children, widows of martyrs and their families. He thanked the people for their participation in the mela and expressed gratitude to the members of print and electronic media for giving wide publicity to the event. Earlier, Mr. Khoda, senior police officers and lady members, handed over the prizes among the raffle draw winners of the recently held Police Mela. The 1st prize TATA Safari was won by HC Dev Raj S/O Pholu Ram, R/O Channi Tehsil Sunderbani District Rajouri, against ticket No. D-67871 and 3rd prize Maruti A-Star Car to Constable Mr. Showkat Ali S/O Ghulam Hussain R/O Darhl Rajouri who won the prize against ticket No. A- 61995.
