| Divisional Science exhibition gets underway | | | Early Times Report Jammu February 13- Minister for Education & Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed today hailed the people of the country and its visionary leadership for the remarkable strides made in all the sphere of development including science and technology since independence. "The country, moving on the path envisioned by its' first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, has witnessed landmark achievements in space science, bio technology and other scientific fields", Peerzada said and added that with political independence, the country is on the path to achieve economic self-reliance. The Minister was speaking at the 31st divisional level Science Exhibition organized by State Institute of Education (SIE), Jammu at Government High School Gandhinagar. The theme for this year's exhibition was "Science and Technology for global sustainability". The sub-themes included agriculture and food security, energy harnessing, conservation of natural resources, combating climatic changes, disaster management and mathematical modeling. The science exhibition is an annual feature to inculcate scientific temper and scientific aptitude besides, developing creative thinking and habit of exploration of novel ideas among the budding scientists. This year students from about 110 schools of Jammu province attended the exhibition in which models on scientific themes were displayed. Peerzada while interacting with the participants said that awareness about environment and ecology among children is the need of the hour so that they can contribute significantly for prevention of environment degradation and pollution, the problems world is infested with. The Minister went round the stalls and evinced keen interest in the models exhibited. Earlier, Secretary Education, Mr. G. A. Peer, Director Education, Jammu, Mrs. Zahida Khan and Principal, SIE, Mr. H. R. Dubey also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
