| Karvan-e-Aman resumes services after brief halt | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 13 : As many as 54 people crossed sides at Aman Setu, the last Indian post on this side of the Line of Control (LoC), as the Karvan-e-Aman cross border bus resumed its journey after remaining suspended last week due to heavy snowfall. Official sources today said that eight residents of Pakistan- occupied Kashmir (PoK) entered this side to meet their relatives for the first time since their separation in 1947. They said 22 residents of the Kashmir valley, who had crossed over to other sides also returned after meeting their relative in PoK. The passengers who had come from Muzaffarabad, the capital of POK, deboarded at Chakoti and crossed the Aman Setu on foot. Similarly, 16 people from here entered the PoK for the first time to meet their relatives while eight resident of PoK returned to their homes after meeting relatives here. Last week, the bus service could not operate because of snowfall. About 10,000 people crossed sides since the cross border bus service was flagged off by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in April 2005. The bus service between the two parts of the Jammu and Kashmir was started after more than 50 years to enable the divided families to meet each other.
