| Govt sincere: Rather to employees | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEB 13: Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today said that the Government is sincere to implement the 6th Pay Commission but needed time to complete the modalities. He said the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah was willing to meet the employees but due to some pressing engagements in New Delhi, the same could not materialize. The Minister said this while holding a meeting with Joint Consultative Committee of the State Government Employees’ Association, here this afternoon. The meeting was also attended by Economic Advisor to the Government, Jalil Ahmad Khan, Chief Secretary, S. S. Kapur, Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development, S. L. Bhat, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Commissioner/Secretary, Finance, B. B. Vyas, Commissioner Secretary, GAD, Basharat Ahmad Dhar and O.S.D, Finance, Sudhanshu Pandey. Urging the employees not to strike work, the Minister said there is no reason to delay the issue and it is only a matter of time before a final decision is taken in the matter. He also said that the Government had earlier several times reiterated its commitment to implement the 6th Pay Commission but needed time to work out the financial implications. Giving details about the seriousness of the present Government to implement the demands of the employees, Mr. Rather said the issue has been discussed several times at the highest fora and the reports submitted by the Pay Committees under Mr. S. L. Bhat and Dr. Haseeb Drabu are being studied. He said the Government has also taken up the issue with the Planning Commission in recent past and a final decision is expected shortly. The meeting, besides others, was attended by employee leaders Mr. Nazir Ahmad Mir, Mr. Khursheed Alam, Mr. Ram Kumar Sharma and Mr. Abdul Qayoom Wani.
