Wani proposes Sudmadev-Marmat road for connecting Doda

Doda, Feb 15:
Expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration in view of snapping of road connectivity at Assar on Batote-Kishtwar National Highway, MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani said that adequate stock of food grains and other essential commodities in Doda and Kishtwar is available.
He denied from any scarcity and adding that he said that special sorties were made for the supply of food grains and petroleum products for the convenience of public. Moreover helicopter is made available for 24 hours incase of any medical emergency and other means for transshipment of goods is also under consideration, added Wani.
Charging over the government storekeepers Wani said that there are reports that in rural areas storekeepers are supplying food grains under quota and same are selling in market at higher rates. He said that administration should made check over such storekeepers and an inquiry should be done and those who were found indulged in such activities their licenses should be immediately cancelled.
Speaking of road connectivity he said that Sudmadev-Banan-Marmat road is the best and permanent alternative for connecting Doda district with Jammu region and Gayi-Braibal-Kaprran road for connecting Doda with Kashmir region as well. He further said that these routes are also alternate for National Highway and will remain open throughout the year. He added that they have requested Government of India for an aerial survey of these routes. Giving details he said that the road on Sudmadev side is already under PMGSY scheme and under construction and same is the case from Doda side. The road is constructed up to Rout, Marmat and only 20km of road needs to be constructed and if tunnel is made then length to get decreased up to 5kms, added Wani.
When enquired about the inability of administration about the construction of footpath at blockade site he said that action should be taken against responsible officials and same should be constructed at equal pace so that people especially elderly people do not suffer further, added Wani.
