RAMNAGAR, Dec 23: In a proactive step towards fostering awareness on the critical issue of drug abuse, the NCORD committee of GDC Ramnagar, in collaboration with the IQAC of the College, organized a lecture on "Identification of Drug Addicts" on December 23, 2023. The initiative is part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a nationwide campaign by the Government of India aimed at combating the menace of drug abuse.
Under the patronage and guidance of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, the Principal of GDC Ramnagar, the lecture was conducted to enlighten students on the ill effects of drug abuse and empower them to identify and assist individuals struggling with addiction.
Dr. Sham Singh, Convener of the NCORD Committee at GDC Ramnagar, delivered the lecture. He emphasized the physiological and psychological changes that occur when individuals consume drugs, stressing the non-permissive nature of drug abuse that may lead to physical and psychological dependence. Dr. Singh outlined various symptoms that can help identify a person addicted to drugs and encouraged students to play an active role in supporting the rehabilitation of affected individuals within their communities.
The program witnessed the presence of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Rakesh Pandita, Prof. Aditya Sharma, Prof. Anice Ahmed, Prof. Jeewan Kumar, Dr. Mukesh Kumar, and Mr. Nitish Sharma.
