Three-day orientation program on e-content development concludes at JKSCERT Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 23: The three-day orientation program focusing on the development of e-content for Masters/Teachers teaching Science and Social Sciences at the Secondary level concluded at JKSCERT Jammu today. The event, organized by the Department of Curriculum Development and Studies (Academic Unit-II), took place from 21st to 23rd Dec 2023 under the mentorship of Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director JKSCERT, and the guidance of H.R. Pakhroo, Joint Director JKSCERT Central, and Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director JKSCERT Divisional Office Jammu. The inaugural ceremony, chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, emphasized the increasing need to update teaching methodologies in line with the diverse needs of learners. She highlighted the popularity of e-content creation as an effective educational resource to enhance the teaching-learning process. Other dignitaries present included Swaran Singh Jaral, Professor, Surjeet Kumar, Professor, and Dr. Sanjeevani Sharma, Assistant Professor, JKSCERT Jammu. The program welcomed 50 teachers/masters from all districts of Jammu Division with the aim of orienting them on e-content development for Science and Social Science at the Secondary level, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The participants were equipped with knowledge of various ICT tools and subject-specific tools for e-content creation.
Resource persons, including Manjusha Kapoor, Dr. Balgar Singh, Lakshmi Puri, Rakesh Chobber, Dr. Jyoti Sudan, Meena Thakur, Rohit Sharma, Anil Sharma, Puneet Thukral, Dr. S.P. Porush, Navneet Gupta, and Amit Sharma from JKSCERT Jammu, provided insights into the need and scope of e-content in teaching, creation of e-content using various tools, and topics such as open educational resources, creative common licenses, virtual labs, and e-assessment tools.
The program, coordinated by Amit Kumar Bhagat, Academic Officer, featured group presentations and valuable feedback from participants on the last day. Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor graced the valedictory function, urging participants to implement their gained knowledge and experiences in actual classrooms. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the resource persons, concluding the program with a vote of thanks by Amit Kumar Bhagat.
