Grand kickoff of 5th UT J&K Wushu Championship 2023 in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 23: Jammu witnesses the spirited commencement of the 5th UT J&K Wushu Championship 2023 at the Indoor hall in Bagwati Nagar, marked by esteemed guests and enthusiastic participants.
In a dazzling inaugural ceremony, Dr. Ritesh (Principal Dental College Jammu) and Shri Manish Gupta (Chief Editor Early Times) graced the occasion as guests. Shri Vijay Saraf (General Secretary) and Ms. Bhavneet (Joint Secretary) from the Wushu Association of India added honor as Guests of Honour. The championship, a testament to the growing prominence of Wushu in the region, is scheduled to conclude on December 26th.
Highlights:
Participants and Teams: Approximately 1300 players from 25 teams, including 19 districts, 5 Khelo India Centres, and the J&K Police team, are showcasing their skills in the championship.
Inaugural Address: Shri Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee, set the tone with a warm welcome speech, providing insights into the Wushu achievements of 2023-24.
Categories: Today witnessed Sub-Junior Boys and Girls events for the under-5/7 & 9 categories, with tomorrow featuring Under 12/14 Sub-Junior Boys and Girls bouts. Junior and Senior events are slated for December 25th and 26th.
Expressions of Gratitude and Praise:
Dr. Rakesh, Principal Dental College, extended thanks to the Wushu Association for supporting the youth and announced a forthcoming free Dental Camp for Wushu athletes in Jammu.
Shri Manish Gupta, Chief Editor of Early Times, praised the Wushu Association for its commendable efforts in promoting the sport across UT and J&K.
Shri Vijay Saraf, General Secretary Wushu Association of India, congratulated all participants, district units, and highlighted plans to request the establishment of NCOE Centre at Jammu and a National Academy at Srinagar.
Closing Ceremony and Future Aspirations:
The championship's closing ceremony is anticipated on December 26th, while the executive and AGM of the Wushu Association of J&K will convene at Amar Singh Club on December 24th. The event has garnered appreciation from various dignitaries, including DySP Sajad Hussain, Dr. Ritesh, Shri Ranjeet Singh, and others.
This Wushu extravaganza not only promises intense competition but also serves as a platform to nurture and celebrate the burgeoning talent in the region, with aspirations for further recognition on the national and international stages.
