Celebrating transformation: Kathua’s revamped vendor spaces receive rave reviews
12/23/2023 10:45:18 PM
Early Times Report

KATHUA, Dec 23: In a remarkable move towards enhancing urban aesthetics and convenience, the District Administration Kathua orchestrated the relocation of vegetable and fruit vendors to dedicated vending points within the town.
This initiative, aimed at providing a more organized and dignified space for vendors, has garnered widespread acclaim from all sections of the society.
The decision to shift these vendors has not only revitalized the bustling main market areas but has also revitalized the iconic Mukherjee Chowk, breathing new life into the heart of the city. The once-crowded spaces now boast a wider and tidier appearance, offering ample room for small vehicles and ensuring a smoother flow for pedestrians frequenting the area for their shopping needs, arriving from various parts of the town and rural peripheries.
Citizens have expressed their elation at the proactive efforts of the district administration, highlighting the provision of dedicated vending points that afford dignity to vendors without fear of harassment from authorities.
The relocation, strategically positioned close to the market, has been met with immense approval from the relocated vendors, emphasizing a decision that aligns with good intentions and is widely embraced by all.
Furthering this initiative, the District Administration is actively engaged in plans to decongest the area from Shaheedi Chowk to Mukherjee Chowk by restricting entry of heavy vehicles, ensuring the safety of commuters and facilitating smooth light vehicle movement.
During a visit to the new vending sites, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas, assured additional measures to ensure hassle-free operations for both vendors and customers. He appealed to the community to support these earmarked vending points for vegetables and fruits, emphasizing the collective effort put forth by the district administration.
The efforts to create organized and conducive vending spaces not only enhance the urban landscape but also reflect the commitment of the administration towards fostering a harmonious and efficient community environment. This step is a testament to Kathua’s progress and inclusivity, inviting all to patronize these redesigned vending spaces and contribute to the vision of a more functional and aesthetically pleasing town.
