Jammu, Dec 24: The Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch (IIPA-JKRB), celebrated its remarkable achievement as the recipient of the Award for the Best Performing Regional Branch in the country this year with its first-ever Members’ Conclave.
The Conclave witnessed a mix of seasoned veterans and young members, commemorating the 45-year journey of IIPA-JKRB. Dr. C M Seth showcased the institute’s growth through a detailed PowerPoint presentation, chronicling different phases from its inception as a local branch in Srinagar to its current position as a thriving entity with 408 members.
Dr. Ashok Bhan, Patron since 2015, categorized the institute’s journey into three phases. The Foundational phase (1978-1999) laid a robust foundation with stalwarts like Veeranna Aivalli, M Rehman, Jalil Khan, Wajahat Habibullah, and Dr. S. S. Bloeria providing intellectual stimulus.
The Infrastructure phase (2000-2013) marked the establishment of a permanent building under the guidance of Dr. S S Bloeria.
The current phase, Permanent Consolidation (2014 onwards), has seen talented members like B R Sharma leading the institute, focusing on training programs and research projects.
Chairman IIPA-JKRB, B R Sharma, credited the achievement to the collective efforts of past office bearers and emphasized the need for continuous hard work to maintain the top position.
He outlined the institute’s goals, including inducting young blood, making IIPA relevant to the government and society, and undertaking evaluation studies of government programs.
Dr. S. S. Bloeria expressed profound happiness over the top position, praising the sincere and selfless work of every member.
He stressed the importance of increasing membership, especially among the younger generation.
Veteran member A M Watali suggested sharing seminar conclusions with the government and academic institutions. Arun Manhas, Director Industry & Commerce, recommended IIPA to undertake evaluations of government programs for objective feedback.
The Hony Secretary, Prof Alka Sharma, welcomed everyone to the first Members’ Conclave, announcing its annual recurrence. The event included interactive sessions to gather suggestions for further upgrading IIPA’s activities and relevance for good governance.
The conclave was conducted by Col. Karan Singh and Dr. Anil Gupta, bringing together the institute’s pioneers and current members to celebrate its journey and plan for a future of sustained excellence.
