BENGALURU, Dec 24: Shivani Charak, a distinguished sport climber from Jammu and Kashmir, continued her medal-winning spree by securing a Silver medal in the Bouldering category for women on the second day of the 27th IMF Sport Climbing Championship. The championship is being organized by the General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure at Yavanika, Bengaluru. Earlier, Shivani had already won a Silver medal in Lead climbing on the first day of the competition.
Despite securing the third place in the semi-final, Shivani showcased remarkable resilience and strength in the final round. Both Shivani and Anisha topped three boulders and earned all four bonus points, leading to a close competition. The final result was determined based on the attempts made to achieve success. Anisha Verma, with fewer attempts, was declared the winner, and Shivani Charak secured a well-deserved second place. Saniya Farooque Sheikh, an international climber from Maharashtra, secured the third place.
Shivani Charak has also entered the semi-final in the Women's category for the speed competition, which will be held in the evening.
In the Sub Junior Boys category, Kafeel Ul Haq and Ankit Singh, participating in their first National Competition, faced challenges due to their lack of experience and stiff competition from national and international climbers. Despite not reaching their full potential, the competition provided valuable exposure and a learning experience for the budding climbers.
