Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 24: FICCI FLO JKL Chapter, in a commendable initiative focused on menstrual hygiene awareness, handed over nearly 4000 sanitary napkins to Ritika Trehan, Chief Spokesperson BJP Mahila Morcha J&K UT. The event, organized for the distribution of sanitary napkins among marginalized and vulnerable women, marked a significant step towards addressing menstrual hygiene in underserved communities.
Ritika Trehan expressed gratitude to Varuna Anand, Chairperson of FICCI FLO JKL, and the core team members for their noble initiative. She praised the optimistic efforts of FICCI FLO JKL in raising awareness among the general public, especially in slum areas.
FICCI FLO members commended Ritika Trehan for her various social initiatives and consistent efforts to reach marginalized sections of society. The event aimed not only to provide essential sanitary products but also to bring about behavioral change and educate women about adopting hygienic practices.
Speaking at the occasion, Ritika emphasized the need for free distribution of sanitary pads to bring about a positive shift in women's behavior and to promote hygienic practices. She highlighted the societal taboo surrounding menstruation, especially for young girls who may be hesitant to discuss the topic or go to the market to buy sanitary pads.
Ritika stressed the importance of menstrual hygiene education, dispelling myths and taboos prevalent in society. She pointed out that many girls enter adolescence without proper awareness of menstruation, leading to misconceptions and fears. The distribution of sanitary napkins becomes a source of education on menstrual health, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachha Bharat (Clean India) campaign.
Ritika emphasized that menstrual hygiene is crucial for women's health and well-being. She shared that BJP conducts menstrual hygiene camps to create awareness and believes in prioritizing women's health and welfare. She acknowledged the cultural and social influences that continue to hinder knowledge advancement on menstruation in India, stressing the importance of breaking taboos.
The event concluded with Ritika Trehan briefing attendees about the significance of menstrual hygiene, promoting a healthy life for women. FICCI FLO JKL Chapter's initiative showcased a commitment to empowering women through education, awareness, and access to essential resources.
