| Khajuria launches people-to- people contact, holds open darbar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 15
Launching people- to- people contact program, BJP MLA from Jammu East Ashok Khajuria today held open darbar at Chowgan Salathia in Old City and took stock of the problems being faced by the residents of the area. Over 100 residents, including prominent figures, raised a number of issues and sought their redressal. Majority of them complained of pathetic condition of the Chowgan Salathia Park, need for construction of retaining wall on Circular road which touches Chowgan Salathia area, increases in the monthly ration items from government depots and proper walling and covering of the nallah passing through the area. The MLA gave patient hearing to the problems narrated by the local residents and assured them that he will work to see that they are not made to suffer any more. Kajuria, while addressing the gathering on this occasion, took strong exception of the decision of the Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for bringing down the quantity of atta, rice, sugar and other items. He warned the CAPD department not to adopt discriminatory attitude towards Jammuites adding that the BJP will not tolerate it and come on roads against such decisions which hurt the interests of the Jammu. The BJP MLA also criticized the state government for adopting delaying tactics in implementing the 6th Pay Commission recommendations. He said today, when the prices of essential items are sky-rocketing, even a middle class citizen is finding it difficult to manage 2-time meal for the family. Expressing full sympathy with over four lakh agitating employees, he asked the government to implement 6th Pay commission at the earliest. Ashok Khajuria disclosed that from today onwards he will be holding open darbars in different parts of Jammu East constituency from time to time to have on the spot assessment of the problems of the people. Shiv Kumar Gupta, Jaswant Singh, Naresh Abrol, Sanjay Mehra, Daljit Singh, Madhu Sudan, Parkash Singh, Jagdev Singh, Brij Mohan and Ramesh Abrol were prominent among those who were present in this mass contact program.
