| Centre sanctions Rs. 123 cr for tourist sector in JK: Jora | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, February 15- To boost the tourism sector in a big and make all basic infrastructure available at the tourist spots, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs. 123 crore which are being utilized by the 12 Tourist Development Authorities in the state. This was stated by Ministers for Tourism and Culture Mr. Rigzin Jora while reviewing the functioning of the department during a review meeting here today, Secretary Tourism, Tanveer Jehan and Director Tourism Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah were also present in the meeting. The meeting was informed that to maintain ecological balance, Eco Tourism Project is being implemented which would help check pollution at tourist spots. It was also given out that an international youth hostel would be constructed at Sonamarg with an investment of Rs. 2 crore whileas Rs. 6 crore are being utilized on the development of Golf Course of international standard at Pahalgam spread over 600 kanals of land. Speaking on the occasion the Minister said that with the Srinagar Airport going international and launching of rail service from Anantnag to Baramulla, it is hoped that the tourism sector would get a big boost as the tourist from Gulf countries and South Asia would visit the valley. Mr. Jora stressed upon the concerned to make the residential infrastructure more comfortable at the tourist places so that the tourists could stay there for a long period.
