GDC Sidhra hosts documentary screening and interactive session

JAMMU, Dec 27: The Department of English and the Department of Sociology at Government Degree College (GDC), Sidhra, in collaboration with the NSS Unit under the aegis of IQAC and the banner of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, organized a compelling documentary screening on 'Viksit Bharat@2047'. The event aimed to shed light on Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi's vision for a New India and explore the goals and efforts required to achieve a developed nation by 2047. The documentary highlighted the transformative initiatives undertaken by the government, including welfare schemes like Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan, Samagra Shiksha, PM Ujjwala Yojana, Digital India, PMAY-G, UJALA, and more. It showcased success stories ranging from dignified employment under Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan to the empowering impact of PM Ujjwala. The screening was followed by an interactive session where students from different semesters of the college shared their ideas about a Viksit Bharat and discussed the challenges that lie ahead on the journey towards realizing this vision. The event served as a space for critical reflection and meaningful discussion on the aspirations and hurdles in achieving a developed and empowered India. Dr. Rudrika Khajuria, HOD of the Department of English, and Prof Shonima Malhotra, HOD of the Department of Sociology, organized the event under the guidance of the college Principal, Dr. B. B. Anand. The initiative aimed not only to inform and inspire students but also to foster a sense of collective responsibility and engagement in the nation-building process.
