GDC Pouni celebrates Dogri Manyata Diwas

POUNI, Dec 27: The Department of Dogri at Government Degree College (GDC), Pouni, marked Dogri Manyata Diwas on December 27, 2023, with a grand Kavi Samelan organized under the banners of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Viksit Bharat@2047. This day held immense significance for the Dogri language and its literary contributors.
Dr. Udhay Bhanu, Principal of GDC Pouni, graced the occasion alongside local poets and writers, including Amarjeet, Mohinder Pal, Dharam Pal, and Kasturi Lal, who have made noteworthy contributions to the Dogri language. The event, meticulously organized and administered by Prof. Bishan Dass, HOD Dogri, saw a large turnout of students eager to partake in the celebration.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, paying tribute to the renowned Dogri writer, the late Dr. Shiv Dev Singh Manhas, former HOD of the Department of Dogri at the University of Jammu. Students of GDC Pouni showcased their talent by presenting local Dogri songs and reciting their own poems, conveying the essence and significance of the Dogri language through heartfelt poetry.
Esteemed poets of the Dogri language from the region emphasized the importance of promoting and uplifting Dogri by sharing their verses. They also encouraged students to hone their writing skills in Dogri to contribute to the rich literary heritage of the language.
Dr. Udhay Bhanu, in his role as Principal, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to the distinguished guests for sparing their valuable time and gracing the occasion at the college. The celebration of Dogri Manyata Diwas at GDC Pouni was a cultural and literary triumph, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for the rich linguistic and literary heritage of Dogri among students and enthusiasts alike.
