| State to witness tremendous progress during Omar regime: Rather | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, February 14 – Minster for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather said that although the biggest challenge confronting the state was the problem of unemployment, the Government was seriously looking for avenues to create job opportunities in the private sector and through fast track recruitment against available vacancies in Government departments. Addressing the function organized by the Rural Development department here today, Mr. Rather said that the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has initiated discussions with big corporate houses in the country in order to motivate them to invest in Jammu and Kashmir and create job opportunities for the youth of the State. He said efforts were being made to review the industry sector so that more educated and skilled youth are absorbed there. The Minister asked the youth to change their mind set up of running after government jobs only, saying that the government sector has a limited absorption capacity. He said the educated youth must come forward to set up their own ventures by taking advantage of incentives provided under state and central industrial policies. Mr. Rather said that the next budget of the State would be people friendly and would take care of each and every sector. He said with the taking over of new coalition government under Omar Abdullah the people of the state were feeling positive change on all fronts and hoped under his dynamic leadership Jammu and Kashmir would witness tremendous progress in the years ahead. He appealed to people to extend their wholehearted support to the new government to making J&K a prosperous State. Later, the Minister distributed cheques worth Rs. 25.15 lakh among 188 beneficiaries of Chrar-i-Sharief constituency for construction and upgradation of their houses under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY). The Director, Rural Development department and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
