Early Times Report
KATHUA, Dec 27: Poonam Singh, an auto driver from Village Chak Sona Nupa in Kathua experienced firsthand hardships brought upon her by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, his life took a remarkable turn when he found solace and support through the PMGKAY scheme initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Poonam Singh's story showcases how this unique initiative brought hope and stability to his life, proving the transformative power of government welfare programs.
Living in Chak Sona Nupa, Poonam Singh, like many auto drivers, relied heavily on his daily earnings to support his family and meet their basic needs. However, the sudden outbreak of the pandemic left him with very few passengers on the streets, jeopardizing his ability to make ends meet. The dearth of income made it increasingly challenging for Poonam Singh to provide for his family, and they faced tremendous uncertainty and hardships.
During the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Poonam Singh's story came to light. He seized the opportunity to express his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government for the PMGKAY scheme. This scheme, aptly named PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana, acted as a lifeline for Poonam Singh and numerous families across India by ensuring access to essential food supplies during the pandemic.
Amidst his heartfelt testimonial, Poonam Singh eagerly narrated how PMGKAY had transformed his life. With no other source of income, the financial burden became increasingly difficult to bear. However, the free ration received through the scheme provided him with much-needed relief and stability.
Expressing his gratitude, Poonam Singh acknowledged that he never anticipated such extensive support from the government. The PMGKAY scheme not only diminished the worries of daily food expenses but also allowed him to redirect some of his limited funds towards other critical needs of his family.
Poonam Singh's story serves as an inspiration to countless others who have found respite through the PMGKAY initiative. PMGKAY not only provided free food grains to the vulnerable sections of society but also instilled a renewed sense of hope and resilience in those who were pushed to the brink. The scheme stands as a testament to the government's unwavering commitment towards the welfare of its citizens, especially during challenging times.
