Assault on tourist: Warrant against BSF man

KOLKATA: An arrest warrant was on Wednesday issued against a BSF personnel for allegedly assaulting a German woman tourist at Sealdah railway station on September 12.

The warrant against Hosiar Singh, currently posted at Krishnagar, was served on the Commandant of the BSF's 73 battalion, Superintendent of Railway Police B K Mullick said.

The warrant was issued after Railway Police moved the court in Sealdah on Tuesday against the BSF man.

German tourist Kariniesher will be asked to identify him.

The 23-year-old German was allegedly slapped by an inebriated Singh at the Sealdah railway station when she was waiting with a friend for a train to Darjeeling on the night of September 12.

Singh, according to the German woman's complaint, accosted her and demanded her passport.

West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi has sought information from the state government and the BSF on the incident after it came to his notice.
