| Symposium on ‘role of forests in environment’ organized | | |

Jammu, Feb 16-A day long symposium-cum painting competition on the topic of ‘The role of forests in environment’ was organized at Public School Shiv Nagar here today. The symposium organized by the Directorate of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing was presided over by R C Sharma, Environmental Soil Conservationist.
On this occasion, an Eco-club was also established in the school by the department.
While addressing the participants, Sharma said that increasing population coupled with deforestation and increasing number of motor vehicles were the main causes of deterioration of environment.
The participating students were presented prizes as also the publicity material relating to the environment and the measures required for minimizing the impact of global warming.
