Jammu, Feb 16- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu BL Bhat today granted pre-arrest bail to Dr. Ram Lal Choudhary involved in much publicized RTO Office raid case and directed that in the event of arrest in this case he be released on furnishing surety and personal bond to the tune of Rs 10,000 each. While granting pre-arrest bail Special Judge Anticorruption, after hearing both the sides, observed that the petitioner is a retired Major belonging to Army Medical Corps having demitted office in 1980 is practicing as Medical Practitioner. He is alleged to have issued medical certificate in bulk. This was revealed during investigation when it was found that around 800 applications for grant of driving license were supported by certificates issued by a particular driving institute and in all cases medical certificates were attributed to petitioner. The Investigating Officer of Crime Branch Jammu reported that the petitioner was called several times for being associated with the investigation to ascertain authorization of medical certificates in question, but he did not make himself available. Thus it is manifestly clear that the name of the petitioner has figured during investigation and he has reasonable apprehension of arrest. The fact that the petitioner is a senior citizen belonging to noble profession of medicine and prepared to cooperate with the investigation, an interim directive is issued that till further development in investigation the petitioner shall in the event of arrest in the instant case be released on furnishing surety and personal bond in amount of Rs 10,000 each. Petitioner shall make him self available to the Investigating Agency for being associated with investigation. This direction shall be effective from February 26, 2009. JNF
