| Cultural Academy condole Prof. B L Koul's demise | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 16- Various organizations and staff of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today expressed deep shock and grief over the death of eminent Kashmiri and Hindi writer and former head of Hindi Department of Kashmir University Prof Bhushan Lal Koul. He was 68 and died in New Delhi this morning. B L Koul, first Doctor of Literature (D Lit.) from Kashmir University was an author of more than three dozen books and editor of a number of journals. He had been awarded by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for his three Kashmiri books. A condolence meeting was organized here at Academy office in which tributes were paid to the departed soul and solidarity was expressed with the bereaved family. Two minutes silence was observed on the occasion. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary Academy described him a stalwart writer of Kashmiri literature who enriched the language with his valuable contribution. Other speakers, who spoke on the occasion, included Savita Bakshi Additional Secretary, Haroon Rashid Deputy Secretaries, Dr. Javaid Rahi, Editor –cum- Cultural Officer, Mohammad Iqbal Malangami, Editor Pahari and Farooq Anwar Mirza, Assistant Editor.
