| Kashmir Legislators call on Railway Minister, demand compensation to landowners. | | | Early Times Report
New Delh, Feb17- A 3- member delegation of legislators from Kashmir valley today met Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in his Chamber in Parliament House and put some suggestions for improvement in rail services in Kashmir region. Nizamudin Bhat, Sayed Basharat Bukhari and Peezada Mansur Hussain who were members of the delegation impressed upon the Railway Minister to release the compensation to the land owners whose land has been utilized for the construction of railway line in Kashmir, besides providing jobs to at least one member of each affected family as was promised by he government at the time of acquiring their land for the purpose. Delegation also demanded recruitment of local educated unemployed youth in Kashmir railways. Sources disclosed that Railway Minister assured the delegation of appropriate action into the matter as and when a proposal is mooted to this effect by the state government. The delegation also sought correction of the nomenclature of various railway stations from Qazigund to Baramulla, which have been wrongly named by the concerned authorities. Minister assured the delegation that direction would be given to the concerned authorities to rectify the wrongs, if any, at an early date.
