| JU, KU constitute joint committee to review present status of Urdu in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, February 17: The Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Reyaz Punjabi today announced the setting up of Urdu committee which will submit a detailed report to both the Vice Chancellors of Jammu and Kashmir University. The Committee has been asked to submit the status report within next three months which will be finally submitted to the state government. To set up an Urdu Committee was announced by Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Professor Reyaz Punjabi and endorsed by Vice Chancellor Jammu University Professor Varun Sahni during the two day national seminar on "Urdu in J&K Past, Present and Future," held at University of Jammu last month. Today a meeting was convened by the Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University to setup the Urdu Committee which was attended by Prof. Nazir Ahmad Malik HOD Urdu, Kashmir University and Professor Shohab Inayat Malik Director Centre for Professional studies in Urdu University of Jammu. Prof. Nazir Ahmad Malik HOD Urdu, Kashmir University will be convenor of the committee while Professor Shohab Inayat Malik, Director Centre for professional studies in Urdu, University of Jammu, will be co-convener. The other members of the committee are Professor Hamadi Kashmiri former Vice Chancellor Kashmir University, Muhammad Yousaf Tang a renowned writer and sitting MLC, S.I.H Qazmi former chief conservator forest, Zaffer Iqbal Manhas Secretary Cultural Academy, Sham Sunder Anand Lehah, a Supreme Court Lawyer and Dr. Nazir Azad a reputed poet of the state. Professor Reyaz Punjabi has authorized the committee to continue Sub-committees at district and tehsil levels.
