The decision to go on a day’s strike was taken in a meeting the Bar Association Jammu which was held today under the chairmanship of its President Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi.
In the meeting President said that it was strange that instead of making stringent laws, the Government is going soft on the criminals thus encouraging them to have a good time. The amendment which is yet to get the President’s assent was anti public and anti society, the meeting felt.
Vice President Surinder Kour said the amendments will only give powers to police to negotiate about their illegal demand of gratification for sending challans without arrest. General Secretary Bar Association Rajesh Thappa said that amendment in the Cr PC will only encourage the criminals. JNF
