PHDCCI Jammu delegation discusses GST issues with new Commissioner | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 9: Rahul Sahai, Chairman of PHDCCI Jammu Chapter, led a delegation to meet the newly appointed Commissioner of State Taxes (GST) of Jammu and Kashmir, Prediman Krishan Bhat. The delegation congratulated Bhat on his new role and presented a bouquet, initiating a discussion on various challenges faced by dealers in Jammu concerning the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Accompanying Rahul Sahai were Raj Dua (Co-Chair PHDCCI Jammu), Kuldeep Gupta, Chetanya Sharma, and Pursharth Sharma (Resident Executive of PHDCCI Jammu Chapter). Rahul Sahai brought attention to the delayed GST reimbursement issue affecting existing industries, emphasizing that SGST reimbursement serves as a crucial incentive for these businesses and should be provided in a timely manner. He raised concerns about auto dealers and proposed the establishment of a one-time window for submitting E-Invoices to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRO) for generating Invoice Registration Numbers (IRP). Sahai suggested the creation of an advisory committee comprising prominent organizations to enhance collaboration between industries and the GST Department. Another issue flagged by Sahai was the delay in GSTR-1 filings, citing technical errors faced by many members. He urged for a swift resolution to this matter. Commissioner PK Bhat patiently listened to the PHDCCI Jammu delegation and acknowledged the relevance of the issues raised. He assured the delegation that efforts would be made to resolve these problems promptly. Bhat highlighted the importance of timely SGST reimbursement and acknowledged the financial constraints faced by treasuries, expressing his commitment to pursuing funds release from the government. Regarding GSTR-1 technical glitches, Bhat informed the delegation that it was a nationwide issue known to all concerned authorities. He assured them that steps were being taken to resolve it within a day or two. If not resolved, the issue would be given due consideration concerning the last date and other related matters. PK Bhat encouraged PHDCCI to advise all dealers to take advantage of the amnesty scheme provided by the government. He emphasized that this was the last opportunity for dealers to benefit from the scheme. Bhat shared future plans to reduce inspections for industry reimbursements from four to one and mentioned upcoming beneficial schemes for dealers. He reiterated the commitment of the GST Department to facilitate dealers rather than harass them, emphasizing a data-driven approach to tax collection. Bhat also conveyed that Chief Secretary Atal Duloo is dedicated to the holistic development of the state, focusing on boosting micro-industries and tourism in the Union Territory. He welcomed any feedback or concerns from dealers and assured them that the department's doors are open for support.
