SAMBA, Jan 10: In a relentless pursuit against illegal mining activities, Samba Police intensified their efforts by seizing ten additional vehicles, including an excavator, utilized for unauthorized mining in the district. The recent operation involved coordinated actions by teams from Police Station Ghagwal, Police Station Samba, Police Station Ramgarh, Police Post Rakh Amb Talli, Police Post Supwal, and Police Post SIDCO Samba.
The seized vehicles comprise one unregistered excavator, one dumper with registration number JK08J-2177, and four tractor trolleys with registration numbers JK02BF-4536, JK21J-4798, JK21H-3764, JK21J-8875. Additionally, four tractor trolleys without registration numbers were also confiscated during the operation.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, revealed that the recent crackdown has resulted in a total of 260 vehicles being seized within a short span of time as part of the concerted efforts against illegal mining. Notably, in the previous year (2023), the police registered FIRs and apprehended individuals involved in illegal mining activities.
Emphasizing the commitment to curbing illegal mining in Samba district, SSP Benam Tosh declared that the police would not tolerate such activities. He warned of even more stringent actions against the mining mafia if illegal mining does not cease completely. The continuous efforts reflect the determination of Samba Police to preserve the environmental integrity and maintain law and order in the region.
