Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 10: In a successful operation, the Nagrota Police, led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspr Vishav Pratap and supervised by SDPO Nagrota Aakash Kohli, intercepted two vehicles attempting to smuggle bovine animals at the Ban toll Naka Point on the intervening night.
The intercepted vehicles include a truck with registration number JK14G-0065, driven by Mohd Anwar from Kokernag, Anantnag, loaded with 14 bovine animals, and another truck with registration number JK03H-1729, driven by Manzoor Ahmed from Nar Sanger, District Anantnag, carrying 11 bovine animals.
Upon inspection, authorities found the 25 bovine animals were loaded in a merciless and cruel manner, without proper provisions for fodder and water. The vehicles were seized, and the animals were rescued.
Both accused drivers, Mohd Anwar and Manzoor Ahmed, have been apprehended by the police. Two separate cases have been registered: FIR No.14/2024 under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 11 of the PCA for the first vehicle, and FIR No.15/2024 under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 11 of the PCA for the second vehicle.
The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. As a result of their swift action, the situation has returned to normalcy in the Nagrota area.
