UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: Govt. Degree College Udhampur celebrated Lohri Festival in the college ground today with great zeal and enthusiasm. The students and staff were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The program kicked off with the preparation of bone fire. The groundnuts, peanuts and popcorns were distributed among the staff and students. The staff and students offered groundnuts, Rewaris, gajhak to the God of Fire and enjoyed the festival by singing on the songs in praise of,' Dulla Bhatti.' Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GDC Udhampur Spread a good cheer among the students and staff and wished for a happy and prosperous new year for all. He also exchanged the good wishes for the students to succeed in their academic and extra- curricular activities and added that Lohri is the festival of feast and food; all are very much attached to it so all of us should pray to Almighty for a healthy and prosperous year ahead. He appreciated the students and encouraged the teaching faculty to play a vital role in keeping the tradition and culture alive by celebrating such kind of festivals. |
