NYK, Women College Parade celebrate National Youth Day

JAMMU, Jan 12: In commemoration of the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda - The Icon and Ideal for the Youth of India, National Youth Day was celebrated by Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at GCW Parade ground Jammu.
More than 200 students, NYK volunteers, youth club members and volunteers of District Youth Service and sports took part. Member Parliament Lok Sabha (Jammu - Poonch), Jugal Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest, while Dr S P Saraswat, Principal, GCW Parade presided over the event. Member Parliament Jugal Kishor Sharma., in his address appraised about the teachings and preaching of Saint Swami Vivekananda ji and also highlighted the importance of National Youth Day. He said that Swami Vivekananda Ji appealed to the youth to develop the nation just as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji is working to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047. He also flagged off the Road Safety Week Campaign led by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan. The live screening of the Prime Minister’s address to the nation during the National Youth Festival at Nashik Maharashtra was viewed by all the participants and MP. A series of Insightful Sessions including Expert Resource Sessions and Cultural Programs were held as part of this program. Certificates of appreciation and participation were presented to the winners and participating students. Nisar Ahmed Butt, State Director, thanked the MP for gracing the event as Chief Guest. He also thanked Principal GCW Parade Dr S P Saraswat and the staff and Volunteers of NSS for their support in making the event successful.
Others present at the event were Gurpreet Kour Program Officer NSS GCW Parade, Bimlesh Kaur, APA, NYKS, staff and faculty members of the college. Additional Activities in Anganwadi centres are also organised by Shaveeta Sharma and Mamta Khajuria NYV of Block Nagrota and Bishnah.
Meanwhile, another programme pertaining to National youth Day and Declamation Contest, and Road Safety Programme was organised in GDC Vijaypur in Samba District with 75 participants.
Prof Anita Jamwal , Incharge Principal was the Chief Guest and Inspector Rattan Singh, Traffic Police Department presided over the event . During the programme Inspector Rattan Singh sensitized the participants about Road Safety Norms.
Arshdeep Kour, Richa and Gazal Preet Kour were judged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner of Declamation Contest in Jammu district while Vikas, Geetika, Shavi Verma were judged as 1st , 2nd and 3rd winner in Declamation Contest in Samba district.
