DD & OE JU celebrates Lohri with great grandeur and enthusiasm

Jammu, Jan 12: Directorate of Distance and Online Education, University of Jammu in collaboration with NSS Campus Unit – 5, University of Jammu celebrated Lohri with great grandeur and enthusiasm. On this occasion, a simple but impressive programme was held in the premises of DD&OE in which Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Director, DD&OE was the Chief Guest whereas Prof. SavitaNayar, Chairperson, NSS Units, Jammu University, all the Faculty Members, Officers, Non-teaching staff and a large number of students of DD&OE were also present on the occasion. Dr. Jitender Singh who conducted the proceedings of the prorgramme, welcomed the Chief Guest and all other dignitaries present on the occasion. The programme started with the cultural item presented by the students of NSS Unit-5 of DD&OE under the supervision of Prgoramme Officer, NSS Unit of DD&OE, Dr. Rajber Singh Sodhi. Prof. Pankaj Srivastava while delivering his address, threw light on the Lohri Festival and Makar Sankranti and congratulated all the audience present on the occasion. He hoped that such programmes would continue to be held in the DD&OE in future also. The Chief Guest accompanied by other dignitaries lit bonfires and threw food items like gazak, popcorn, puffed rice and other sweet things to show their gratitude towards God. Dr. Jaspal Singh presented a vote of thanks after the programme.
