| RJMLS hails VC's of JU, KU for setting up of Urdu Committee | | | Early Times report
Jammu, Feb18- Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society (RJMLS) has hailed the decision of both Jammu and Kashmir Universities for setting up of a state level Urdu committee to review the status of Urdu Language in Jammu and Kashmir State. In this connection a meeting of the society members was convened here today under the chairmanship of veteran Kashmiri and Urdu Poet Bashir Bhaderwahi in which members congratulated Vice Chancellors Kashmir University Prof. Reyaz Punjabi and VC University of Jammu Prof. Varun Sahni for this joint venture. The members hoped that the state level Urdu committee would come up with some concrete steps for promotion of Urdu language which happened to be the official language of the state and is being neglected by the successive state governments. RJMLS urged upon the committee members to recommend Urdu Academy for J&K State besides filling up of various Urdu teachers post in different Schools and Colleges. The members further urged the Vice Chancellors to personally plead the plight of Urdu with the state government as Urdu is not only the language of love but also teaches national integration and communal harmony. Urdu is also the link language of all the three regions of the state. Those who spoke in the meeting included Aseer Kishtwai, Ravi Thaku, Payria Hatash, KK Raina , MK Bangroo, Masood Ahmad Khateeb, Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Vijay Kumar and Mumtaz Kouser.
