Mankotia discusses Udhampur affairs with Governor

Jammu, Feb 18: Jammu and Kashmir Young Panthers President and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia held a detailed meeting with the state Governor NN Vohra here today and discussed matters of high importance including the developmental needs of Udhampur district.
In a memorandum submitted to Governor, Mankotia demanded reservation in jobs/admissions in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Cancer hospital etc. Besides, he demanded that the Udhampur town including Krimchi temples and Devak( the elder sister of holy river Ganga) Neeli Nallah which have great potential of pilgrim tourism be developed as a tourist attraction
In his meeting with the Governor, Mankotia said that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine has emerged as the major destination for pilgrim tourism and the people of Jammu and Kashmir state have been immensely benefited by the major developmental initiatives taken by the Shrine Board including setting up of SMVD University and the Super Specialty Cancer Hospital established at Katra. Besides, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board is another major organization under the Governor’s charge has boosted the tourism in the state, which is mainstay of our economy.
Mankotia further demanded that some developmental projects be initiated for areas in Udhampur so that the pilgrims visiting Katra-Vaishno Devi also visit these areas of historical significance.
He demanded revival of ancient route to Vaishno Devi Shrine via Garhi-Rehmbal-Jib-Thathi-Painthal-Karkial
Young Panthers president demanded that locals should be provided reservation in admissions in SMVD University on the pattern of Jammu University campuses at Bhaderwah and Kathua and preference/reservation to the locals in appointments/jobs in the University campus.
He said that Jammu University has also opened a campus at Udhampur but its construction work has not started as yet and requested that the construction work be started at the earliest besides providing some special grants for the campus.
Mankotia also demanded making Bye-pass road at Jakhani to Falata be made fully functional to ease traffic congestion in Udhampur town.
Te Governor is reported to have assured of positive response to the Mankotia’s demands, a party handout claimed.
