| People apprise CM of problems | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEBRUARY 18 – The Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah today met several deputations which apprised him of problems of their areas.
A deputation, led by Mr. Ghulam Qadir Dar from Beerwah, met the Chief Minister and raised the demand of establishment of a polytechnic in the area. Mr. Dar also requested introduction of science and commerce streams in the degree college at Beerwah in order to facilitate the students. Besides, the deputation also called for taking measures to bring Khag, Beerwah and Tosa Maidan on the tourism map of the State. The deputation also asked for exploring possibility of setting up a water supply scheme on Sukhnag nallah.
Another deputation from Qazigund, led by Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Vice President, J&K National Conference, block Qazigund also met the Chief Minister and apprised him of their problems. Similarly, two deputations, one from Ganderbal and another from Bijbehara, led by Mr. Shafat Ahmad and and Mr. Mohammad Yousuf respectively, put forth their demands of their areas before the Chief Minister.
A deputation from Kargil, led by MLA, Zanskar, Mr. Firoz Ahmad Khan, President, Islamia School Kargil, Sheikh Ahmad Mohammadia and the Councillors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh led by Member Parliament, Thupstan Chewang, Chief Executive Councilor, Chewang Dorge, MLA, Nobra, Mr. P. Namgiyal met Mr. Abdullah and raised various demands pertaining to there areas.
The deputation from Poonch, led by Mr. Surinder Singh brought to the notice issues pertaining to the development of the border district.
The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to all the deputations and assured that every effort would be made by the Government to redress grievances.
