| European delegation visit Northern Command, lauds Army’s role | | |
JAMMU SEPT-20 European Union Troika Mission headed by Asko Numminen Ambassador of Finland accompanied by Francsco da Camara Gomes Ambassador European Commission and three other members currently on a visit to Jammu today visited Headquarters Northern Command to assess the ground situation prevailing in the state.
The delegation was accorded a warm welcome on arrival at HQ Northern Command by General Deepak Kapoor GOC-in-C Northern Command.
The delegation was briefed on existing situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s complicity in abetting proxy war, counter terrorisms strategy and human rights record of the Indian Army. The delegation members evinced keen interest in various aspects covered in the briefing and lauded the role of Army in containing terrorism enabling effective functioning of the democratic institutions in the state.
The delegation later left for Jammu en-route to New Delhi.
