| ‘No Smoking’ – seminar in Kathua | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, FEBRUARY 19-Continuing it tirade for eradication of social evils, a symposium was organized by the Information Department at Government Girls High School, Basohli on the topic “ No Smoking”. The function was presided over by the Head Mistress Smt Krishan Kanta where as Block Medical Officer, Basoli Mr Basant Kumar Sharma was the chief guest yesterday. 13 Students took part in the symposium and they read their writings on the “No Smoking” to build the healthy Nation. Miss Lovely Mudeel of Class 10th was adjudged as best speaker, Miss Kamal Nanda of Class 7th became second while Miss Pooja of Class 10th stood at third position. While addressing the students, Headmistress Smt. Krishana Kanta thanked the Information Department for organizing the symposium at their institution and told that such type of programmes work to aware the students who are the future of the Nation and can work to eradicate the social evils like smoking, drinking etc. While addressing the students, Block Medical Office told that smoking causes the lung cancer, physical and mental weakness etc not only to the active but also to the passive smokers. He urged the students to aware the smokers regarding the side effects of smoking. He also disclosed some tips with the students to become healthy. He requested the Information Department to organize the such type of programme to sensitize the students and public about the ill efforts of smoking and drug addiction.
