| Rehman lashes Mufti-Farooq on Autonomy, Self Rule | | PM-Pak Prez joint declaration vindicates SP’s stance | | JAMMU SEPT-20- Commenting on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pak President Parvez Mushariff’s joint declaration at Havana, the State Unit President of Samajwadi Party (SP) has said that the declaration has vindicated his party’s stance on improving relations between India and Pakistan. However, he apprehended that it would meet the same fate and end in fiasco as other agreements have, if no sincere efforts are made to translate the agreement into action. He was addressing public meetings at Jhiri and Bhalwal in Marh and Kotbalwal blocks today. He lashed at the coalition government for its failure in meeting the growing unemployment problem and eradication of corruption from the administration. Criticizing creation of four more districts in Kashmir Valley, Rehman said that Jammu tehsil which is one the biggest and largest one with six assembly constituencies has not been bifurcated when 16 new tehsils have been carved out recently adding that keeping in view of the population and the area, Jammu tehsil should be decentralized into four tehsils apart from Jammu, Marh , Kotbalwal and Nagrota should be accorded tehsil status. He threatened that his party would launch a sustained struggle if government failed to concede this demand, a party handout said. While hitting hard on ‘Mufti and Farooq’ for their respective stand on self rule and greater autonomy, Sheikh Rehman questioned them as to why they did not raise these issues when they were in power and by resorting to such like lucrative slogans , both these leaders are only misleading and exploiting the people of Kashmir for their vested interests. On this occasion, Ram Sahai a prominent local leader was appointed as President of Kotbalwal block. Those spoke include B S Choudhary, Sham Lal Mahasha, Smt Preeto Devi, Mugal Hussain, Nazir Hussain and Gharu Ram.
