BISHNAH, Jan 24: In a vibrant display of civic engagement, Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah witnessed the inauguration of the Road Safety Month and the celebration of National Voter's Day through a collaborative effort by the NSS Wing and the Electoral Literary Club. The events aimed at fostering awareness about responsible citizenship and road safety among the youth.
To kick off the Road Safety Month, which spans from January 15th to February 14th, approximately 80 enthusiastic students participated in a rally through the bustling Bishnah market, symbolizing their commitment to promoting safe driving practices.
Simultaneously, in honor of National Voter's Day, an event that encourages youth participation in the democratic process, a slogan-writing competition was organized. The theme, "Nothing like voting, I vote for sure," inspired students to articulate their views on the importance of actively participating in the electoral process.
Prof. Shrotika Rajput, Convener of the Electoral Literacy Club, took the opportunity to enlighten students about their electoral rights and the registration process. Dr. Kouushal Kiran Thacker, Convener of the Social Activity Club, emphasized the pivotal role of the electoral system in shaping the Indian democracy.
Dr. Geeta Lakhotra, NSS Program Officer, and Dr. Sapna Bargav, Convener of the Road Safety Month, shed light on the importance of adhering to traffic rules while driving. Dr. Manohar Lal, the Principal of GDC Bishnah, encouraged students to actively disseminate information on the significance of casting votes for a robust democracy.
Expressing her opinion on the role of the electoral system, Dr. Koushal Kiran Thacker reiterated the importance of active citizenship and informed decision-making for a thriving democracy.
The event not only served as a platform to educate and sensitize students but also showcased the college's commitment to nurturing responsible and informed citizens. By combining the themes of voter awareness and road safety, GDC Bishnah demonstrated a holistic approach to civic engagement and community responsibility.
