GDC Ramgarh promotes Road Safety awareness through Essay Writing Competition

RAMGARH, Jan 24: Government Degree College (GDC), Ramgarh, took a proactive step in observing the 'National Road Safety Month' by organizing an Essay Writing Competition on the 'Importance of Traffic Rules for Road Safety.' The initiative, led by the Literacy Club, aimed to educate and raise awareness among the college students about responsible driving practices. The event was conducted under the able guidance of the esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra.
In her address, Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra highlighted the objective of the competition, emphasizing the need to educate youth about the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of following traffic rules for their safety and the safety of those around them. The students were counselled to drive responsibly, keeping in mind the well-being of themselves and others on the road.
The competition, coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Snobar, HOD, Punjabi, and Convenor of the Literary Club at GDC Ramgarh, saw active participation from 15 students who expressed their views on various aspects of road safety, including awareness, traffic rules, and the challenges of traffic jams. Essays were written in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and Punjabi.
The assessment of the essays was conducted by Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Ms. Sonali Dutta, and Ms. Priya Sharma. Three students, namely Jagmeet Kour from the 4th semester, Priya Rajkumari from the 2nd semester, and Tanu Hans from the 6th semester, were appreciated for their outstanding essays.
The event witnessed the presence of faculty members, including Prof. Sandeep Kumari, Ms. Sonali Dutta, Dr. Shivali Choudhary, Ms. Priya Sharma, Ms. Akansha, Mr. Ram Murti, Dr. Fayaz Ahmed, Dr. Imitiyaz, and Mr. Sunil Kumar, showcasing the collective effort of the college in promoting road safety awareness.
GDC Ramgarh's initiative to integrate education and awareness through such competitions contributes to building a responsible and safety-conscious community, aligning with the goals of the National Road Safety Month.
