Govt PG College, Rajouri commemorates National Girl Child Day

RAJOURI, Jan 24: In a spirited celebration of National Girl Child Day, Government P G College, Rajouri, took a significant step towards promoting the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign. The Women Development Cell of the college orchestrated a compelling poster-making competition on January 24, 2024, under the guidance of the college principal, Prof (Dr) Shamim A Azad.
The event, inaugurated by Prof Salma Farooq, Coordinator of the Women Development Cell, unfolded in the Conference Hall of the college, attracting a large number of students eager to contribute their creative expressions to the cause. Prof Salma Farooq underscored the paramount importance of campaigns like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao in contemporary society, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities in education, healthcare, and nutrition for girls.
The poster-making competition not only showcased the artistic prowess of the students but also served as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges faced by girls. Prof Rabia Kouser, Dr Divya Mahajan, Ms Ramneeq Kour, Dr Simran, Dr. Flourence, and other faculty members were present, lending their support to the initiative.
Principal Prof (Dr) Shamim A Azad expressed his appreciation for the seamless organization of the event by the Women Development Cell and lauded the enthusiastic participants. Dr. Shamim A Azad deliberated on the theme of the competition, stressing the collective responsibility of society to improve the status of girls and provide them with equal opportunities in various fields.
In his address, Prof (Dr) Shamim A Azad articulated the need for concerted efforts to enhance the overall well-being of girls, encompassing education, healthcare, finance, sports, and research. The event concluded with a note of gratitude from Prof Salma Farooq, who thanked all members of the Women Development Cell and other faculty contributors for making the event a resounding success. The celebration of National Girl Child Day at Govt P G College, Rajouri, reflected the college's commitment to fostering a society that recognizes and empowers the potential of every girl child.
