JAMMU, Jan 24: In a united front, leaders of the Kashmiri Displaced People (KDP) Wing of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) in Jammu and Kashmir, through Shri Sanjay Dhar (President), Sh. Piaray Lal Pandita (Chairman), and Sh. Raj Kumar Ticku (General Secretary), have issued a joint statement presenting a series of demands to the Government of India and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, U.T, urging immediate consideration.
The key demands put forth by the KDP Wing leaders include:
Formulating a concrete resettlement rehabilitation policy for the return of Kashmiri Hindu Exiled People to the Valley at the earliest.
Establishing two special police recruitment battalions with relaxed norms for Kashmiri Hindu Exiled youth, especially those with lower education and nearing the age limit.
Implementing special recruitment for highly educated youth of Kashmiri Displaced People, with relaxations in norms and age, and considering reservations.
Providing stipends to unemployed youth, compensating traders, addressing the loss of property over the past thirty-four years, and offering one-time ex-gratia payments to facilitate settling in the Valley. This includes the release of remaining assessed ex-gratia for gutted houses, orchards, and agricultural land.
Extending the benefits of all central government-sponsored schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Avas Yojna, Ladli Beti Yojna, Daughters' Marriage funding scheme, etc., to displaced people.
Offering transit accommodation to P.M. Package employees in one go, with their merger at par with U.T. Govt. employees.
Conducting a comprehensive survey by a committee on the living conditions, education, employment, and economic status of people still residing in the Valley to enhance their conditions.
Reserving one seat in Panchayats, Municipalities, Local Bodies, and Block Development Councils for Kashmiri Hindu Exiled People in the pre-nineties dominions, along with reservations for two Assembly and two Parliamentary seats in Valley elections.
Until a resettlement rehabilitation policy is developed, improving the conditions of displaced people by enhancing monthly cash assistance to Rs. 30,000 per month per family. They request the Government of India to send a constituted committee to assess the on-spot conditions in Jammu camps.
Advocating for All India tours for displaced youth to broaden their understanding of different cultures and alleviate frustration arising from unemployment.
The KDP Wing leaders also appeal to civil societies of the majority community to unite and exert pressure on the Government of India for the earliest formulation of a rehabilitation policy to reunite Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmiriyet.
